The Simplest Scarf Knitted With A Knit Stitch Only

I have made a video, that is fairly simple, yet some beginner knitters have problem following it. So I decided to write a pattern (see below) and make a video of me knitting the simplest scarf there is - with the use of a knit stitch only. After I cast on, I take the viewer fairly slowly over 2 or three more rows. After that all the viewer has to do is repeat the third row (see below in the step-by-step instructions) many times. So you can either follow the pattern below, and/or watch about 11+ minutes long video to start you on this project (click on THIS LINK TO SEE THE SIMPLEST SCARF'S TUTORIAL). However, if the intro is too boring to you, forward the video to 2 and 1/2  min.
Note:  I didn't knit entire scarf, because I didn't have enough yarn. So, all you need to do is continue repeating the third row many times over.

Post a comment how you did if you knit this scarf.

Materials:
  • Yarn – any yarn/wool of your desire - 1 or 2 skeins depending on the thickness of your yarn, and width and length of your scarf
  • Needles - either long; or for 22 sts (or less) double pointed needles (DPN) - see the manufacturers recommendations
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle (to weave in long tails)
Abreviations:
DPN – double pointed needles
CO – cast on
K – knit
KTBL - knit through the back loop
sts - stitches
sl st – slip stitch (=move it from left needle onto right needle without knitting - with yarn moved to the front from the back)
BO – bind off

Size:
Anyone

Gauge:
varies (depending on the type of yarn and size of your needles)

Step-by-step instructions:

Row 1 - CO 22 sts
Row 2 - K21, sl st
Row 3 - KTBL, K20, sl st
Last Row - BO

Repeat Row 3 as many times as you need to - to reach desired length.  Then BO last row. Either clean up the loose ends (tails) or attach the tassels to each end of the scarf.

Enjoy.

BTW - here is my very first scarf tutorial where I used knit and purl stitches and where some beginners had hard time following the video. But, if you are good at holding needles, know how to CO, knit and purl stitches, know how to BO, know abbreviations and know how to read patterns - you may want to explore knitting this scarf.
