Crocheted Mittens For Adults Medium Size - Free Pattern

These Mittens are medium size
I never crocheted mittens. These were my first and I think they came out pretty great. These are really quite easy - I used only chain, single crochet stitch, sc decrease and slip stitch to make these. All crocheted in the round.
Those red thumbs are quite something - I keep looking at them... and don't forget - "keep your fingers busy to keep many fingers warm" :-)

Material:
1 ball Loops & Treads, Impeccable, deep red (Claret), 268 yds/245 m
1 ball Loops & Treads, Impeccable, black color, 268 yds/245 m
Hook US size G (4 mm)
Scissors
Yarn Needle (optional)

Abreviations:
ch - chain
sc - single crochet
sc dec - single crochet decrease
st(s) - stitch(es)
sl st - slip stitch
prev. - previous
join - join with a sl st
BO - bind off

Gauge:
single crochet stitches
4" x 4" = 16 st x 16 rows

Step-by-Step:

Make 2 gloves.

Red yarn:

Foundation: ch35, join

Rnd 1-3        ch1, 1 sc into each st, join (total 32 sc)

Black yarn:

Rnd 4-10        ch1, 1 sc into each st, join (total 32 sc)
Rnd 11           ch1, thumb part: (2 sc into 1st st, 1 sc in st, 2 sc into next st); 1 sc into each st to end                       (total 34 sc)
Rnd 12          ch1, 1 sc into each st, join (total 34 sc)
Rnd 13          ch1, thumb part: (2 sc into 1st st, 1 sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc into next st); 1 sc into                                   each st to end (total 36 sc)
Rnd 14          ch1, 1 sc into each st to  end, join (total 36 sc)
Rnd 15          ch1, thumb part: (2 sc into 1st st, 1 sc in next 5 sts, 2 sc into next st); 1 sc into                                   each st to end (total 38 sc)
Rnd 16          ch1, 1 sc into each st to  end, join (total 38 sc)
Rnd 17          ch1, thumb part: (2 sc into 1st st, 1 sc in next 7 sts, 2 sc into next st); 1 sc into                                   each st to end (total 40 sc)
Rnd 18          ch1, 1 sc into each st to  end, join (total 40 sc)
Rnd 19          ch1, 1 sc into each st to  end, join (total 40 sc)
Rnd 20          ch1, 1 sc into each st to  end, join (total 40 sc)
Rnd 21          ch1, 1 sc into each st to  end; join, ch2,  then slip st into 11th st to form a thumb part and                      a  palm part

Continue crocheting around your palm part:

Rnd 1          ch1, 1 sc into each st until you reach ch2, then 2 sc into each of these 2 chains; join
                   (total 30 sts)
Rnd 2-16    ch1, 1 sc into each st, join (total 30 sc)
Rnd 17       ch1, *[1 sc, sc dec]* - 10x; join, (total 20 sc)
Rnd 18       ch1, 1 sc into each st, join (total 20 sc)
Rnd 19       ch1, *[sc dec]* - 10x; join (total 10 sc)
Rnd 20       ch1, 1 sc into each st, join (total 10 sc)
Rnd 21       BO by pulling yarn through each st (total 10) and then pull yarn through all 10 loops


Finishing thumb:

Red yarn:

Rnd 1          ch1, 15 sc around the perimeter of the thumb; join
Rnd 2-6       ch1, 1 sc into each st to end; join (total 15 sts)
Rnd 7           ch1, *[1 sc, sc dec]* - 5x; join
Rnd 8          1 sc into each st; join (total 10 st)
Rnd 9          ch1, *[1 sc, sc dec]* - 3x, 1 sc; join
Rnd 10        pull yarn through each stitch to make a loop, while doing that transfer each loop onto knitting needles (total 7 loops), then pull one stitch through all loops to BO and weave in all the ends
