I decided on having my cream squares surrounded by red ones. Red is quite dominant, yet beautiful color and a works the best for drab winter days. I hope you agree.
These squares are easy and simple. They are crocheted in only 3 rows, so it is no biggie.

Materials I used:
3 balls of Loops&Threads, Impeccable, worsted #4 thickness - two red and one off white (cream)
Hook - size 5mm (optional - hook 3.25mm - I used it to draw yarn through tight stitches)
Scissors or yarn needle
Size:
Width of the scarf - 3 squares, each square is 2.5"; (if you want to make scarf wider use 5 squares in each row)
Length - 30 squares
Total squares - 90 (28 cream, 62 red)
Abreviations:
ch - chain
sc - single crochet
dc - double crochet
sl - slip
st(s) - stitch(es)
RS - right side
WS - wrong side
YO - yarn over
IP - (Initial Petal - at the beginning of the row):
ch3, YO, insert hook through same stitch, YO & draw up a loop (3 loops on hook), YO, draw yarn through two loops (2 loops on hook remaining), YO, insert hook through same stitch, YO & draw up a loop (4 loops on hook), YO, draw through two loops (3 loops on hook), draw yarn through all 3 loops
RP - (Regular Petal - all other petals throughout the row):
YO, insert hook through same stitch, YO & draw up a loop (3 loops on hook), YO, draw yarn through two loops (2 loops on hook remaining), YO, insert hook through same stitch, YO & draw up a loop (4 loops on hook), YO, draw through two loops (3 loops on hook), YO, insert hook through same stitch, YO & draw up a loop (5 loops on hook), YO, draw through two loops (4 loops on hook), draw yarn through all 4 loops
Step-by-Step:
Row 1 Start with ch4, sl st it into a circle
Row 2 crochet loosely: ch1, 7 sc, sl st it into first st to create a circle
Row 3 make 8 petals into each stitch as such: IP, ch3, RP, ch6; *[RP, ch3, RP, ch6]* - total 3x; sl st into first st to finish the square
Attaching a new square on one side only:

Row 1 Start new square with ch4, sl st it into a circle
Row 2 crochet loosely: ch1, 7 sc, sl st it into first st to create a circle
Row 3 make 6 petals into each stitch as such: IP, ch3, RP, ch6; RP, ch3, RP, ch6, RP, ch3, RP; then ch3, place squares on top of each other (while touching each other with WS and the new unfinished square facing you with RS), sl st into the first corner of the other square, ch3, RP, ch1, sl st into ch3 (side) of the other square, ch1, RP, ch3, sl st into the second corner of the other square, ch3; sl st it into first st to finish a square
Continue attaching squares in a "line" until desired length. When you start attaching second row and you have to start attaching two sides of each new square proceed as such:
