Crochet Easy Lacey Bracelet With Pearl Beads - Part 2

In my last post, I shared with you a pattern of a very simple bracelet with beads (click HERE for that post). I also promised you that we will turn a Simple Bracelet into an Easy Lacey Bracelet, which will be more elaborate but still easy to make. You can make just one piece to use as a bracelet, or two pieces for lacy, romantic wrist warmers. Your choice.

I am also planning Part 3, where I'd love to build it even further - into Romantic Hand Covers - sort of like gloves, but the piece will cover the only top of the hands.

That is my plan, but for now, if you want to continue making "Easy Crocheted Bracelet - Part 2," you will HAVE TO start with multiples of 8 + 5. Therefore, you will need to start with either 37 sts (for a small/medium wrist), OR 45 sts (for a large wrist = 7"+ wrist). You will have to crochet 4 rows of Part 1. Then continue with the pattern that is written on this page below = Rows 5 through 7.
Part 1 (Simple Bracelet) is a base for Part 2 (Easy Bracelet), AND Parts 1 & 2 will be a base for a bracelet in Part 3.

Thick black upholstery thread
16 small pearls beads with a diameter of 3/16" (or beads of your choice)
Hook size - 3.00 mm
Small button
Thin sewing needle for stringing beads and sewing a button
Yarn needle for weaving the ends in
Scissors

S/M (wrist circumference 6"-6.5"; the length of the bracelet is 7")

Gauge:
5 sc sts in 1"

To make Easy Crocheted Bracelet With Pearl Beads, first Read Step-by-Step from my blog post "Simple Crocheted Bracelet With Pearl Beads - Part 1" HERE, and work on Row 1 through 4. We will continue with Row 5 in this post as such:


Row 5               ch3, 1 dc in next st, then into 3rd st: (1 dc, ch1, 2 dc); then skip 3 sts, 1 sc into 4th st, skip 3 sts; *[into 4th st: (2 dc, ch1, 2 dc, ch1, 2 dc); skip 3 sts, 1 sc into 4th st, skip 3 sts]* - repeat from * to * 3x total; into 4th st: (2 dc, ch 1, 2dc); and 1 dc into last st; turn

Finishing:

Weave in both ends, sew a button on the opposite end of the buttonhole and wear to a party.

Amigurumi Bunny

Someone asked me to make an Amigurumi video. Since I am always extremely busy with many other projects (fyi, I am working on about 30+ of them simultaneously!, including my art projects, and classes in our community college for a 2 year degree) that I was postponing this project for a later date, as I am doing with all other 30+ projects that I am working on LOL. However, the other day I saw an easy Amigurumi Egg on the internet with a free pattern. I sat down and videotaped it with Kristi's permission. You can see her free written pattern on her WEBSITE HERE, and my links to VIDEOS FOR RIGHTIES AND LEFTIES HERE.
Well, this got me hooked and I put EVERYTHING on hold and decided to work on my Amigurumi "test toy" design. A Bunny, that is. And then, just for fun, I decided to make a "stop motion" video with my Honey Bunny - so if you like positive videos you can see it HERE. One of these days I should make a crochet along Honey Bunny video. Hopefully. 

So, about almost a week later, after crocheting my Honey Bunny, taking notes of crocheting my Honey Bunny, making the fun video, you can see below the written outcome.
BTW, the beauty of making crocheted toys is that you can use any thickness of yarn with an appropriate hook. A thin yarn will produce a small toy; a thick yarn will create a big toy. I hope to make a video of how to crochet this bunny too. But for now, just a free pattern will have to do. So, if you decide to crochet this Honey Bunny, I hope you will have as much fun with it as I did.

This is how I work - I write and rewrite my designs until they take shape that I am looking for;
and perhaps several days later I may have a sample for design to be published in the form of a free
pattern and most of the time a video too :-)

Materials:

Yarn: use any yarn you want; I used about 1/3 of Patons "Grace"; yarn weight - #3/light; 100% Mercerized Cotton; 125 m/136 yds; 50 g/1.75 oz; color white; plus a string of black for eyes (or use eyes, made specifically for toy making)

Hook size: use a hook one size smaller than a hook recommended by a manufacturer; I used 3.00 mm
Polyester Polyfill 

Scissors
Yarn needle
Stitch marker

Abbreviations:

mr - magic ring (loop)
sc - single crochet stitch
sc "n" - single crochet 1 stitch in each stitch from  previous row, where "n" represents number of consecutive stitches needed to be crocheted (ie. sc 6)
m - marker (I use about 2.5"-4" long string of yarn, which I place right after I finish last sc stitch in each round and before I start a new sc stitch = the string stays between the stitches until I am done with each round)
inc - increase = make two single crochet stitches into the same stitch
dec - invisible decrease = crochet two single crochet stitches together through the front loops
[text in these parentheses] - repeat total number of times
(number in these parentheses) - total number of stitches you should have at the end of the finished row
sl st - slip stitch


Step-by-Step

All parts are crochet in spiral fashion, do not join rows with slip stitches, but rather continue immediately

Body - make one

Rnd 1               mr, sc 6; m
Rnd 2               incr 6x total (= 2 sc sts in each of next 6 consecutive sts); m (total 12 sts)
Rnd 3               *[sc 1, incr]* - repeat from * to * 6x total; m (total 18 sts)
Rnd 4               *[sc 2, incr]* - repeat from * to * 6x total; m (total 24 sts)
Rnd 5               *[sc 3, incr]* - repeat from * to * 6x total; m (total 30 sts)
Rnd 6               sc 30; m
Rnd 7               *[incr, sc 5]* - repeat from * to * 5x total; m (total 35 sts)
Rnd 8-9            sc 35; m
Rnd 10              *[sc 15, dec, sc 16, dec]*  - m (total 33 sts)

Make small pieces of Polyfill and start stuffing them inside. As you finish two or three more rows add some more of the stuffing - make sure you do not make the stuffing lumpy, and that it doesn't make bumps on the surface. Spread it nicely along the walls on the inside.

Rnd 14-16         sc 20; m
Rnd 17              *[sc 4, incr]* - repeat from * to * 4x total; m (total 24 sts)
Rnd 18               sc 24; m
Rnd 19               *[sc 4, dec]* - repeat from * to * 4x total; m (total 20 sts)

Leave a long tail and f/o. Finish stuffing your Bunny's body so it feels firm. Thread your yarn needle with the long tail. Pick up the front loops of the 6 stitches from last row and close the opening.


Leg - make 2

Rnd 1               mr, sc 6; m
Rnd 2               sc1, incr - 4x, sc 1; m (total 10 st)
Rnd 3               sc 1, incr, sc 1, incr - 2x, sc 1, incr,  sc 2; m (total 14 st)
Rnd 4               sc 14; m
Rnd 5               sc 2, dec, sc 6, dec, sc 2; m (total 12 st)
Rnd 6               sc 2, dec, sc 4, dec, sc 2; m (total 10 st)

Make small pieces of Polyfill and start stuffing them inside. As you finish two or three more rows add some more of the stuffing - make sure you do not make the stuffing lumpy, and that it doesn't make bumps on the surface. Spread it nicely along the walls on the inside.

Rnd 7-8            sc 10; m; then finish with two extra sl sts to even out the edge

Leave a long tail and f/o. Finish stuffing your Bunny's leg, but don't stuff it all the way to the edge, leave the edge area flat, so the bunny's bottom is flat. Set aside.


Arm - make 2

Rnd 1               mr, sc 6; m
Rnd 2               incr 6x total (= 2 sc sts in each of next 6 consecutive sts); m (total 12 sts)
Rnd 3-5            sc 12; m

Make small pieces of Polyfill and start stuffing them inside. As you finish two or three more rows add some more of the stuffing - make sure you do not make the stuffing lumpy, and that it doesn't make bumps on the surface. Spread it nicely along the walls on the inside.

Rnd 6               *[dec, sc 4]* -  repeat from * to * 2x total; m (total 10 sts)
Rnd 7-8            sc 10; m; then finish with two extra sl sts to even out the edge

Leave a long tail and f/o. Finish stuffing your Bunny's arm, but don't stuff it all the way to the edge, leave the edge area flat, so the bunny's arms lay flat at the body after you attach them. Set aside.

Bunny Ears - make two

Rnd 1               mr, sc 6; m
Rnd 2               incr 6x total (= 2 sc sts in each of next 6 consecutive sts); m (total 12 sts)
Rnd 3               *[sc 1, incr]* - repeat from * to * 6x total; m (total 18 sts)
Rnd 4-7            sc 18; m
Rnd 8               *[sc 7, dec]* - repeat from * to * 2x total; m (total 16 sts)
Rnd 9               *[sc 6, dec]* - repeat from * to * 2x total; m (total 14 sts)
Rnd 10             *[sc 5, dec]* - repeat from * to * 2x total; m (total 12 sts)

Tail - make 1

Rnd 3               *[sc 4, dec]* - repeat from * to * 2x total; m (total 10 sts)
Rnd 4               *[sc 3, dec]* - repeat from * to * 2x total; m (total 8 sts); then finish with two extra sl sts to even out the edge. Leave a long tail and f/o.

Make tiny pieces of Polyfill and stuff the tail all the way to the edge - make sure you do not make the stuffing lumpy, and that it doesn't make bumps on the surface. Spread it nicely along the walls on the inside. (Note: I used a back of the pencil)


Joining Pieces Together:

Weave your long tail into a yarn needle and sew onto the body. Legs and tail are attached in triangle - legs in the third row and tail in the 5th row counting from the bottom center of the body (the wider part). Arms are attached above the legs, but in the 10th row from the top. Ears are bent at the edge into a moon shape and sewn on at the top of the head across Row 2 and 3 off the center (slightly toward the back). Eyes are sewn at the 7th row from the top, directly straight up from the front of each arm. Bunny's Snout (mouth) was created by making a cross in the middle between the eyes in the 9th row counting from the top.

After sewing each tail was weaved in invisibly.

Crocheted Bonnet For a Newborn Princess

Finally, my semester is over, holidays are over, New Year's is over, and I can knit and crochet again - yeeey. Although I do have art exhibitions coming up (yes I paint, draw, make sculptures too).

I love to make hats, and booties, and socks, and little gloves, and you name it, for newborns. I really like to make stuff for them. The are so cute, and precious, and cuddly that it is easy to think of some outfit to knit or crochet for them. A little bit of lovely yarn, one or two hours of free time, imagination, and you have a beautiful present.

Well, I make stuff for babies even if I do not have any baby to knit or crochet for at the moment. It will have to be donated, or gifted to someone that crosses my path :-)

This time I was inspired by a bonnet I saw on the internet. It was just a simple, minimalistic crocheted hat, and I decided to make similar, but with a lacy feel to it. I had an idea how this bonnet should look like. I found an elegant, repetitive pattern in one of my books, counted my stitches and "went to work."  I chose one of my pink yarns - about 1/2 ball of a leftover from some project I did a while back. I decided to crochet this hat as I was videotaping making it. 

This hat/bonnet crochets relatively fast. It has only 15 rows. Therefore it is quite an easy project. You need to know only basic stitches. There is a video on my YouTube channel for Right-handed and Left-handed crocheters, too. The video is very detailed, so if you think you can't do it - I think yes you can. Just follow me along the video, slow it down (I made a video how to slow it down - click HERE) or rewind and rewatch. Enjoy.

First, make "Base Part" (back of the hat) in the round (5 rows); then continue with "Lacy Part" back and forth (8 rows). Finish crocheting around the "Sides and the Nape Area."

I also made a bigger size with thicker yarn and bigger hook - yet same pattern

Size:
3-6 months old baby (the height and width of the hat is 7" in flat position)

about 3/4 of ball of yarn that is worsted weight #4 (I used Lion Brand, Vanna's Choice, silver blue color - but feel free to use any color and any yarn of your choice that is very similar to thickness of the one I used)

Hook size 6mm

My gauge is medium and comparable with manufacturers gauge

Abbreviations:

ch - chain
dc - double crochet
sc - single crochet
join - join with a slip stitch
prev. - previous
yo - yarn over
cluster A (chain3+2-double-crochet puff stitch) - *yo, insert the hook in the stitch, yo, draw the yarn through the stitch, yo, and draw the yarn through the 2 loops on the hook (one half-finished double crochet is complete)* - repeat from * to * 1 more times (3 loops are on your hook); yo and draw the yarn through all 3 loops on the hook, note: this cluster is worked only in the beginning of the row
cluster B (3-double-crochet puff stitch) - *yo, insert the hook in the stitch, yo, draw the yarn through the stitch, yo, and draw the yarn through the 2 loops on the hook (one half-finished double crochet is complete)* - repeat from * to * 2 more times (4 loops are on your hook); yo and draw the yarn through all 4 loops on the hook

Step-by-Step:

Foundation:  create a magic circle and work in rounds

Rnd 1          into the magic circle - ch3, 9 dc, join (total ch3 + 9 dc sts)
Rnd 2          ch3, 1 dc in same st as the ch3, 2 dc in each consecutive stitch from prev row, join (total ch3 + 19 dc sts)
Rnd 3          ch3, 1 dc in same st as the ch3, 1 dc in next; then *[2 dc in next st, 1 dc in next]* - repeat from * to *, join (total ch3 + 29 dc sts)
Rnd 4          ch3, 1 dc in same st as the ch3, 1 dc in next 2 consecutive sts; then *[2 dc in next st, 1 dc in next 2 consecutive sts]* - repeat from * to *, join (total ch3 + 39 dc sts)

LACY PART

We will work in rows, start counting your rows from "1".

Row 1          ch4, skip one st, 1 dc into next, ch1, *[1 dc into next, ch1]* - repeat from * to * 19 more times, finish with 1 dc in the last st (total ch3 + 21 dc sts), turn
Row 2          ch1, 1 sc in each st to end, turn
Row 3          ch4, 1 dc in the same st, ch2, skip 2 sts, 1 sc in 3rd st, *[ch2, skip 2 sts, 1 dc in 3rd st, ch2, 1 dc in same st, ch2, skip 2 sts, 1 sc in 3rd st]* - repeat from * to * 5 more times; then ch2, skip 2 sts, 1 dc in LAST st, ch1 (!), 1 dc in same last st; (you will have total 8 "V"s - two narrow "V"s on each end, and 6 regular "V"s in the middle), turn

We will continue crocheting a border along the neck area. Hold your bonnet as if to continue around.

Row 1           ch1, then space sc sts along the edge as evenly as possible. I crochet along the first side of a lacy part 12 sc sts, then along the back of the nec, 9 sc sts, and according to my video 13 sc sts along the second side of the lacy part, turn
Row 2           *[skip 2 sts, into 3rd sts crochet 7 dc, skip 2, into third st make 1 sc]* - 2x, then 1 sc in next 10 consecutive sts, skip 2 sts, into 3rd sts crochet 7 dc, skip 2, into third st make 1 sc, skip 2 sts, into 3rd sts crochet 7 dc, skip 2, into third st make sl st, then make a knot and weave in all the ends.

Chicken Placemat For Kids - Spring Is Coming....

I am very tired of this winter. I decided to make myself feel "Spring-y" - I crocheted a chicken placemat for a child... I know that Spring is coming... yes it is.... almost here.... just around the corner... soon....

Crocheted Scarf for Spring to Fall

Recently I got a really nice message from my friend. She was surprised about my knitting/crocheting endeavors and complimented me on my achievements. She asked me if I could "teach" her to crochet a scarf. I told her I will make a video for her that she may be able to follow. I had couple of questions for her - how thick, and how wide her scarf should be? She wanted to crochet a summer scarf that would be between 30-40 cm (12-15 inches) wide.

I picked an easy stitch pattern - besides the first two rows and the last row, she has to repeat really just one row over and over and over again.....

I was not sure how wide my scarf will end up tough - because it has a slightly "wavy" shape - in other words it "shrinks" in width.

Well here is the info you may need to know should you want to make this scarf too.

Work with multiple of 10 stitches, plus 2.

Material I used:
2 balls of cotton yarn - fine #2 thickness, 317 yards/290 m (I used Premiere Yarns, Cotton Fair)
Hook - size G, 4.25mm
Scissors

Width:
With 70 stitches I achieved 11".
If you want to make scarf wider - add more multiple of 10 sts. (ie. 90+2 sts, or 110+2 sts, etc.) - but then buy also 3+ balls of this yarn

Abreviations:
ch - chain
sc - single crochet
dc - double crochet
st(s) - stitch(es)
prev. - previous

Step-by-Step:

Start with ch72 

Row 1          skip first two sts and crochet 1 sc into each ch st (total 70 sc sts), turn

Row 2          ch3, *[1 dc into each of next 5 sts, skip 4 sts, 1 dc into 5th st, ch4]* - repeat from * to * until the end of row, finish with 1 dc into initial ch3

Row 3-?          ch3, *[5 dc into ch4 from prev. row, skip 4 dc sts, make1 dc into 5th dc, ch4]* - repeat from * to * until the end of row, finish with 1 dc into initial ch3

Repeat Row 3 as many times as you want/need.

Last Row - make a 4 sc along ch4 sts, then 6 sc into each dc from prev. row

Weave in both ends. If desired tie on tassels made from same yarn.

More Granny Square And Triangle Videos

Lately I have been working on my little project of crocheted granny squares blankets. I made one blanket for American Girl Doll, and now I am crocheting one for a baby. So, I decided to make few videos and I compile them into playlists (one for lefties and one for right handed people) on YouTube. So far I have made just one type of granny square, and just in case you would like to attach them in diagonal way, I made a video how to crochet a triangle. My playlists include attaching the granny squares.

The blanket in the image (on your left) is for a baby. The size is 32" x 40". It has 49 squares and 22 triangles. This diagonal layout is done in such a way that there are in each corner 2 squares with 2 triangles. My next step is to join these pieces. (Click on the image to enlarge).

Crocheted Coasters From Cotton Yarn - Free Pattern

 On summer days when you like to sit outside with a glass of water (or your favorite drink) you may need a coaster for that drip from your "sweaty" glass. If you like to crochet you could make a crocheted coaster, or two, or three, or several of them as a gift for someone that is fond of ecological items, such as this project. All you need is one or two skeins of a thick cotton yarn (#4). I used self-striping yarn which, made my coasters very interesting looking.

Material:
medium cotton yarn (#4)
hook #I (5.50 mm)

Abreviations:
ch - chain
sl st - slip stitch
sc - single crochet
hdc - half double crochet
st(s) - stitch(es)
join - join with sl st into a circle

shell#1 - 2 hdc, ch1, 2 hdc
shell#2 - 3 hdc into first/next "ch1 space", ch3, then join into the first st of ch3, 3 hdc into same space


Step-by-Step Directions:

Rnd 1      ch6, join
Rnd 2      ch1, 9 sc; join (total 10 sts)
Rnd 3      ch3, *[hdc, ch1]* - repeat from * to *, join (total 20 sts)
Rnd 4      ch2, hdc into same base st, ch1, *[skip ch1 st, make 2 hdc into next hdc from prev row, ch1]* - repeat from * to *, join (total 30   sts)
Rnd 5     make 2 sl st to get into the first "ch1 space", ch2, 1 hdc, ch1, 2 hdc, *[into next space: shell#1]* - repeat from * to *, join (total 50 sts)
Rnd 6      ch1, *[shell#2; 1 sc between two shell#1 from prev row]* - - repeat from * to *, join

To make shell#2 - crochet 3 hdc...

... then ch3...

... then sl st into first ch of ch3...

finished loop in shell#2

... then make 3 hdc ...

... then make a sc between 2 shell#1 ...

finished shell#2 + sc

Weave in all tails/ends.

My Mom taught me how to knit and crochet. You know, the basics. Nothing fancy. After that I always tried to explore outside the box - make my hand made products little more lively. One other thing that my Mom taught me was to make pom-poms - or "bambulky", as we call it in my country. It is not hard to do, you just have to be very neat when making it, otherwise it will not turn the best.
